    I’m all for Yoga. Just not Face Yoga.

    Yoga is a great way to exercise, increase flexibility and balance, center yourself, reduce chronic pain, and improve your health.

    Over the last few years, many versions of Yoga have surfaced- goat yoga, hot yoga, face yoga and others.

    These versions are only modern adaptations and not practiced by yogis practicing original Ashtanga Yoga.

    Certain practitioners of Face Yoga claim that making extreme facial expressions can reduce wrinkles and help you look younger.  This is not true.

    Making lots of extreme facial expressions can strengthen the muscles of your face that create wrinkles.  Hence, doing Face Yoga doesn’t make you look less wrinkled; it makes you look MORE wrinkled!  In fact, Botox works the opposite way.  By relaxing the muscles of your face, it reduces wrinkles and makes your face look younger.

    So, Yoga is great. Face Yoga is not advised. For these reasons, Face Yoga is on my Holistic Beauty Blacklist.
