Laser Hair Removal

Laser Hair Removal

Shaving, waxing and threading all deal with hair that has already grown. Laser treatment works further back in the process. Concentrated light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair, converted to heat, and directed down the shaft to the follicle, reducing its ability to produce new hair. Over a course of sessions, growth becomes finer, slower and sparser.

We use the Elite iQ platform, which adjusts settings to your skin type rather than applying one setting to everyone. Because the laser targets pigment, and because only hairs in the active growth phase respond, a series of treatments spaced weeks apart is necessary. Anyone promising complete clearance in one session is not being straight with you.

Areas We Treat

Laser works best where there is good contrast between hair pigment and skin, though modern devices have widened the range of skin tones that can be treated safely. Grey, white and very fine blonde hair contains little pigment and generally does not respond, which we will tell you before you book a course.

Commonly treated: upper lip, chin and jawline, underarms, bikini area, legs, arms, back, chest and shoulders.

01.
Patch Test

Before your first full session we test a small area and check how your skin responds, then set the settings for your skin type.

02.
Treatment Course

Sessions are spaced four to eight weeks apart depending on the area, catching hairs as they enter the active growth phase.

03.
Maintenance

After the initial course, most patients need occasional top up sessions to manage hormonal regrowth over time.

Frequently asked questions

The accurate term is permanent hair reduction rather than permanent removal. After a full course, most patients see a substantial and lasting decrease in hair density, with remaining hair growing back finer and lighter. Hormonal changes can trigger new growth later, so occasional maintenance sessions are usually part of the picture.

Most areas need six to eight sessions for the initial course. The face often needs more because facial hair is more hormonally driven. We will give you a realistic estimate for your specific area at consultation.

Modern medical grade devices can treat a wider range of skin tones than older machines, but settings must be adjusted carefully to avoid burns or pigmentation changes. This is exactly why it matters that treatment happens in a physician supervised medical setting rather than a walk in salon.

Most patients describe it as a hot rubber band snap. Cooling is built into the treatment and sensitive areas like the upper lip and bikini line are more noticeable than legs or arms. Sessions are short, which helps.

Shave the area the day before, do not wax or pluck for four weeks beforehand as the root needs to be present, and avoid sun exposure and self tanner. Afterwards, expect mild redness for a day, avoid hot showers and exercise for twenty four hours, and use sunscreen daily.
